Remove Office updates with SCCM2012

Recently we rolled out an Office update that made our BI Excel plugin unstable,
so we had to remove this update where it was already enrolled.

Apparently you cannot uninstall an Office update with WUSA like so:

WUSA /uninstall /kb:2899505

Apparently this method only works for Windows hotfixes.

To remove an Office hotfix follow the following procedure:

Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

and then search for the KB number of the update you need to remove.
Once found, look at the Uninstall String, and you’ll see a value like this:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE15\Oarpmany.exe" /removereleaseinpatch "{90150000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}" "{147128E6-6D8A-4A2C-A169-F511B17DF876}" "1043" "0"

Use this example to help you create your MSI command:

msiexec /package {90150000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE} MSIPATCHREMOVE={147128E6-6D8A-4A2C-A169-F511B17DF876} /q /norestart

This may force the shutdown of Office, and will not complete until the system has restarted, however.
